HONORING PEACE AND JOY
I shall honor all the troops wherever they may roam
I shall respect their service on foreign land and homeMay we leave behind quite few in distant battlefields
And limit the black number we carry back on shields
If when all else fails we must send folks off to war
May we know the whole truth about who and “the what for?”
May all the guardian angels watch for rockets overhead
Land mines drones, and snipers that leave behind the dead
If our sons. And daughters are bound to fight and parish
May we celebrate their lives and may our every day let’s cherish
May we salute each one, each one that we deploy
And hold them in our hearts with thoughts of peace and joy
When the last rampart has been launched and the last shot leaves the gun
Have gratitude and reverence for the freedom that’s been won
May wisdom lead to long-lasting peace instead of epic war
And may we find a way not to do this anymore
